Project description:
This 250m² new extension, sited between existing structures, provides high quality amenities to the visitors of the English Heritage owned Rievaulx Abbey in Yorkshire. The single storey vaulted timber structure comprises of Pre-fabricated and Pre-finished glulam portal frames working compositely with an internal and external ceiling soffit and walls in cross laminated timber.
The structure has been designed to provide a high level of structural efficiency without aesthetic compromise. Concealed metalwork connections and precision detailing did not slow down the site assembly and allowed the interfacing glass and zinc to enhance the overall success of the building.
