Project description:
The Frank Gehry and Associates designed cancer respite centre was a complex engineered timber ‘folded plate’ multi-plane roof supported upon columns with exposed internal curved roof beams and over clad externally with foamglas insulation and zinc metal roofing and all surrounding a rendered double curved timber tower. The concept of the structure was waves crashing against the light house tower inspired by a discarded piece of crumpled paper.
