Project description:
In the heart of London’s design hub Clerkenwell EC1, we have constructed a 900 square foot first floor extension to an existing office within the constraints of a courtyard surrounded by multi-storey buildings. The timber oasis has been created with an elegant winding timber staircase in the new entrance foyer providing access to upper space formed by Larch glulam portal frames perched on top of the brickwork ground floor. The roof and walls have been built with lightweight composite timber insulated Sapisol T & G wall and roof panels, an engineered oak Sapisin T & G floor provides an acoustic barrier to the Funlam T & G boarded ceiling below and larch glulam mullions break up the external wall space with double glazed units between. The pre-fabrication off-site of all the components provided a quality finish with minimal disruption to surrounding businesses and the light weight solution provided ease of handling, access and distribution during the quick build process.
