Project name:

Ansdell Street, London

Project description:

This new top storey to a completely refurbished office building has created a whole new floor space whilst minimising visual impact to the neighbouring buildings yet enhancing the vista. The roof form, being a series of triangulated stressed skin folded plate panels, is a contemporary interpretation of a mansard roof with ‘origami’ geometry.

Utilising the full span of the building with support points only at the perimeter, the expressed glulam and cross laminated timber panels create height and space for use with a wow factor. Concealed metalwork connections and precision detailing contributed to a speedy site build time for the prefabricated panels with no noise and light weight handling equipment keeping the environmental impact to a minimum.
